Introduction
Improving stockmanship skills is a lifelong process. It starts with learning and understanding basic stockmanship skills, but requires a committment to ongoing learning and practice. Stockmanship is the effective two-way communication between a cow and a person. The cow will always be consistent in her responses; the person is the one that can misinterpret. From our experiences at Emerald Dairy II, the lesson links are an introduction to important stockmanship skills and how we have utilized them on a modern dairy operation. Start with Lesson 1 which is a review of basic stockmanship skills.
